Crean Lutheran = 230
Laguna Beach = 273
First of all, I want to stress to all players and parents that golf is HARD. It is a tough sport to master and one that we are all trying to get better at each and every day. Measuring one's ability against another is never a recipe for success. We should all be measuring ourselves against the golf course and our own ability.
Today we played Tustin Ranch. A long golf course and a very challenging one. Total yards from the gold tees = 2653 (par 36). Ben Brown's yardage from the red tees = 1669 (par 32). That's a 1000 extra yards = Huge difference.
While our team score is not great compared to Crean Lutheran or yesterday's round at Ben Brown's, there were little things I saw today of which I was extremely proud. These small moments each day make me happy.....here are a few:
#1 Jaden played as a freshman in her first varsity match, shot a 56, and never had to pick up. Finished every hole.
#2 Kennedy birdied hole #3 and was our medalist again with a 51.
#3 Maya pumped a drive over 200 yards (see video)
#4 Kenya stepped up and drilled her tee shot to 10 feet (see video)
#5 Gigi was only 11 over with 2 holes to play.
#6 Claire hit a great tee shot on a long par 3 (see video)
Like I said...look for the little things that you did well and find ways to improve each and every day. Golf is a lifelong pursuit and we are on our way!
